India - Teaching in Darjeeling

The volunteers are expected to teach English and other subjects, depending on their interests and abilities. This could include sport, music, art or drama if you have skills in any of these areas (or are just willing to give it a go!)

The location is fabulous with views of Kanchenjunga and the fascinating region of Sikkim is close by. There are many opportunities for visits and trekking at the weekends. Some of the highlights include the tea plantations, monasteries, the famous 'toy train' in Darjeeling and sunrise over the Himalayas at Tiger Hill.

We are currently working with three schools close to Darjeeling: Magno Vale, RIBS and Sacred Heart.

Since the project are community based, volunteers live and work in the villages.The opportunity to contribute to a disadvantage rural community is very satisfying. However, you will feel that you gain much yourself, just by appreciating the simplicity of the village life and the strong family values. You will recover what some call their spirituality sanity.
