The sheer diversity of cultures, languages, landscapes and cuisine make India one of the most interesting, inspiring and exciting countries on earth. From the peace, tranquillity and beauty of the Himalayas, to the noise and vibrancy and of the cities to the beautiful beaches of the South, India has something to offer everyone. It can also be a shock to the senses and it is certainly a place to expect the unexpected. Challenging certainly but also hugely rewarding with many visitors finding themselves drawn back again and again.

1. What projects are available in India?

Teaching - Our teaching programme in India focuses on Primary school education in rural villages in the Himalayan foothills. These projects are located in the Darjeeling & Kalimpong region.

Business Development - Our volunteers have been working with a women's organisations in the town of Bankura. A range of skills are needed in order to help these organisations to more effectively help those currently living in poverty.

2. Are there any special requirements for volunteers in India?

All volunteers must be aged 18 or over. Volunteers for business development need to have at least 4 years relevant experience. Applicants for healthcare and business development projects require 3 years experience. Volunteers for teaching projects need an open mind, lots of enthusiasm and a sense of humour!

Applicants need to be available for at least 1 month to teach, and a minimum of 3 months for business projects. Start times are flexible and can usually be arranged to suit the individual volunteer
